Wow! This was another fun week of exploration. What great
resources in creating a QR code and a short link. I feel like I’m out of the loop on things,
since I didn’t even know this was possible.
What practicality to each aspect to use within the classroom as well as
personal usage. In my journey this week I
tested out Printliminator. This again is
a fantastic tool that I wasn’t even aware existed.
Let’s start at the beginning with my first task of creating
a short link for my blog and my school profile page. After creating this for both I had mixed
feelings. The link created for my blog I
felt was much more confusing as seen below than it start out as. I definitely would be able to relay that one
as easily over the phone to a person.
The second attempt with my profile page for my school was a huge
success. It made my link to the website
very user friendly and easy to relay verbally.
Next, I created QR codes for both my Blog and profile page
on my district website. This feature is
absolutely great. Having the increase in
smart phone technology and pretty much every student and adult having one of
these devices make this perfect. It’s a great
simply error free way of accessing websites that pertain to individuals. I will definitely start using it on more
handouts and forms I create for my classroom.
I could even see how it could be helpful as a link to parents for
assignments, rather than the old fashioned go way.
Finally, Printliminator, a great website to help stream line
what is being printed for yourself as well as in the classroom. As I worked with this program I loved how I could
delete section straight from the websites without having to copy and paste into
MS Word. It did remind me of the “snipping
tool” in windows 7, but it has its differences.
Provided that each computer, students were using, already had this
program accessible in the bookmarks bar makes it very useful. I do foresee some instruction the first time
being a must as well. However, I can see
the applications and more so the elimination of information that is not useful
and wasteful in regards to paper and ink.
This would be a great tool to use when having students work on research
projects, writing current events and other similar types of activities. As the teacher this would be very useful when
showing students any document from online resources. Whether it was projected or printed, I could
eliminate all the ads and side bar things that distract from what the focus of
the material should be, for the current assignment.
